RainStorm Goes Rafting
We have a program here at RainStorm where each quarter we step back from the computers and head out to do something recreational as a team. PAIR (the Planned Activities Initiative at RainStorm), coming up on its second year of operation, has taken us all over with activities spanning from dinner and drinks after work to canoe trips — and everything in between.
Most recently, the RainStorm team tackled some whitewater rafting — the perfect activity to wrap up the summer. Whispers of rafting have lingered for the better part of the spring and summer as one of our developers (and former rafting guide) Ian told tales of his days taming rapids in western Maine.
Our Agenda
We set out early in the morning on Wednesday the 19th heading for The Forks in western Maine — one of the premier rafting spots in northern New England. We couldn’t have asked for better weather as the day was looking to be sunny and close to 90 degrees.
After orientation first thing, we launched onto The Kennebec River late-morning. After heading down river through the rapids and being retrieved, we headed back to basecamp. Once we made it back in one piece, lunch followed, and we wrapped the day up with a short hike to Moxie Falls.
